Nick Cooper, tonight's soloist, was educated in Ipswich and Colchester and gained his Performance Diploma at the Royal Academy of Music in London. For eight years he was a member of the London Symphony Orchestra.
He has performed concertos and given solo recitals at London's South Bank, the Wigmore Hall and - in costume - as a viola gamba player at the Globe Theatre and the National Theatre.
He has also performed abroad, including the USA, Russia, Japan and several European countries.
He has credits as a solo 'cellist' on a number of film scores.
